List of provided services
C4SYS is focusing on the following specific research areas and contribute/offer expertise:
a. Online software services providing access to modelling, analysis and design of biological systems. In particular, tools for the design of proteins and metabolic pathways, tools providing modelling and analysis of systems biology models, and the so-called “comprehensive modelling platform” (CMP) that offers to deploy and maintain computational (quantitative and qualitative) models integrated with experimental data for given set of organisms.
b. Developing simulation procedures based on single molecular stochastic interactions between regulators and DNA.
c. Data generation for kinetic and stochastic modeling: stopped flow, rapid quench flow, ITC and DSC microcalorimetry, microfluidics, CDs pectroscopy, robotic GC spectrometry, ChIP techniques (ChIP chip, ChIP) seq etc., are offered to wide scientific community.
d. Identification, inference, modeling and simulation of cell regulatory networks, particularly genetic networks, snRNA regulatory interactions and protein networks. Model organisms include yeast and bacterial models (special focus on antibiotic producers of Streptomyces genus and on B. subtilis)
e. Synthetic Biology Design and introduction of novel biochemical pathways into living organisms.
f. Amplicon and shotgun metagenomics, activity of microorganisms in soil by amplicon and shotgun metatranscriptomics of environmental mRNA.
g. Assignment of taxonomic identities and functions to sequences (of DNA, RNA, or proteins), performance of genome, transcriptome or proteome sequencing of individual isolates of microorganisms, both bacterial and fungi. Linking the sequence derived data to environmental variables (such as chemistry, climate, plant activity, etc.)
h. Development and verification of methods to evaluate complex sets of sequence and nonsequence data or sequence data of different origin
i. Designing on demand workflows of analyses and implementation of the necessary software tools.
k. Service based analysis of physiological and biochemical properties of cyanobacterial strains/cultures.
l. Determination of molecular factors (host and pathogen proteins) determining the success of pathogen transmission from the vector (tick) to the mammalian host and the success of the infection of the host. Specifically, services to study protein carbohydrate interactions in relation to pathogen transmission.
m. Isotopic fingerprinting stable isotope laboratory (Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS, DeltaPlus, Finningan, Germany), elemental analyser, TC/EA, Precon, Gasbench and ConFlow.
n. International reference laboratory for characterization and optimization of photosynthetic microorganisms culturing, complying to systems biology standards with regard to quality and details of both analytical and reference methods.
o. Analysis of ion concentration changes and fluxes for modeling of cation homeostasis. E. g. FLISE allows time resolved measurements of ion (e.g. K+- and H+-) fluxes across the yeast plasma membrane and other microorganisms in suspension. Additionally, the MIFE system allows rather precise estimations of ion fluxes across cell membranes in a non-invasive way.
p. Two photon polarization microscopy (2ppm) as a live cell high throughput screening platform. 2ppm, a novel technique developed and patented by INSB, allows sensitive observations of conformational changes accompanying protein function. Unlike other methods, 2ppm allows simultaneous monitoring of multiple steps of cell signaling networks, enabling a unique systems approach to studies of cell signaling.
